Aiming for a transparent, eco-friendly government building where activities are visible
Walking with the community
Against the traditional green landscape extending from the Abukuma Mountains to the south, we achieved continuity of greenery through transparency and rooftop greening. For the urban area to the north, we added information-dissemination functions, creating a design that incorporates the environment as a base for community development.
Citizen Collaboration ~ Silk Hall ~
The cocoon-shaped silk hall, inspired by Hobara—once a thriving sericulture town—serves as a stage for civic activities and is equipped with flexible furniture that can be rearranged to suit various activity formats. It is designed as a glass-walled space that can be open 365 days a year.
Environmental Harmony - Eco-friendly City Hall -
As a public facility designed to encourage citizens to think about the global environment and energy conservation, this building has reduced utility costs by approximately 30% compared to conventional government buildings of the same size through the use of underground groundwater heat, rainwater harvesting, underfloor heating and cooling, automatic dimming lighting, and rooftop greening.
